Editorial policy
By Travis Haggar · Updated · Drafted with AI help
How the guides, tools and data pages on this site are written, where their numbers come from, and how to tell us when something's wrong.
Who writes
- Pages are published under the name of Travis Haggar, who builds Openbox Money. He isn't a financial adviser, and nothing on this site is financial advice.
- Pages are drafted with AI help, and each one says so beside its byline.
- Each page shows the day its content last changed. Fixing a typo doesn't change the date.
Sources
- Numbers come from primary sources: the Federal Reserve, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and companies' own pricing pages. Pages that state such numbers link their sources and say when they were checked.
- Explanations of how Openbox Money works, like how Safe to spend works, come from the app's own code and change when it does.
- The facts and figures on each page are listed in a claims file with their source and the date they were checked.
How AI is used
- AI developers help draft pages and build the tools. They don't supply facts or statistics: each one comes from a cited source or from the app's code. Worked examples use made-up numbers and are labelled as such.
- Our calculators work out results in your browser with ordinary code. No AI produces a result.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, email support@openboxmoney.com with the page and what you found. When we fix a mistake in substance, the page says what changed and when.
No affiliate links or paid placements
- Openbox Money earns money only from its subscription. There are no ads, affiliate links, sponsored posts or paid links, and nobody pays to be mentioned.
- A page that compares Openbox Money with other apps says at the top that we make one of the products compared, so it isn't an independent review. Facts about other apps come only from their own pages, with the date we checked.
Reviews and endorsements
- Travis and his household never review Openbox Money.
- Family and friends who post about Openbox Money are asked to say that they know us.
- Households in the private beta got free lifetime Premium. That's a connection they need to mention in anything they post about Openbox Money, and we never ask them for posts, votes or reviews.
- We never buy, write, reward or hide reviews. When we ask for reviews, we ask every paying household the same way, with nothing offered in return.
What we don't cover
No investment, tax or retirement advice, and no pages on those subjects unless a qualified professional has checked them.
